Pension Plan Structure and Text
The Public Service Superannuation Fund was established in 1941 by the Public Service Superannuation Act. It is the funding vehicle for the Public Service Superannuation Plan, which covers employees of the Province and certain other public sector organizations.
The Minister of Finance is Trustee of the pension plan. The Minister is assisted in his duties through the advice of the Public Service Pension Advisory Committee. The Committee provides advice and recommendations to the Minister of Finance, for consideration and input on decisions related to the administration and investments of the Public Service Superannuation Plan. The Nova Scotia Pension Agency is administrator of the pension plan and is responsible for its day-to-day administration.
